As part of `Earth Day Celebrations’ the students of ZP High School, Kammakandriga in Ramachandrapuram mandal made a novel display of hugging the trees to stress on the imminent need of protecting environment for the wellbeing of the posterity, on Monday.

Tirupati: As part of `Earth Day Celebrations’ the students of ZP High School, Kammakandriga in Ramachandrapuram mandal made a novel display of hugging the trees to stress on the imminent need of protecting environment for the wellbeing of the posterity, on Monday.

Teachers, and villagers also joined with the students in the ‘hug the tree’ rare programme to enlighten the children, the future citizens on the responsibility to promote greenery. SETWIN Chief Executive Officer Lakshmi, AIR Tirupati Director N Venugopal, Forest Range Officer Sivanna, National Green Corps district coordinator Neelakanta and school headmaster Govardhan were among those in the programme.

Neelakanta said the Green Corps is holding ‘hug the tree’ programme on the occasion of Earth Day in the schools to create awareness among the children to take up plantation to enhance green cover to check pollution.
