Kurnool: Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishnamurthy made an appeal to the parents to encourage their children to pursue education. He said these words after inaugurating Mana Vooru—Mana Badi programme at Indira Gandhi Municipal High School at A Camp here on Monday. Addressing the gathering, Krishnamurthy said achieving the top most position in life is possible if education is pursued with an aim and determination.

The State government is giving utmost priority to education section, said KE Krishnamurthy. He stated lessons are taught through internet after setting up of digital and virtual classrooms besides teaching lessons in English medium. MLC KE Prabhakar said the uneducated is less regarded in the society. Education plays a prominent role in everyone’s life.

He said the quality education is being imparted at government schools on par with private and corporate schools. He appealed to the parents to join their children in government schools. Recalling his tenure as Education Minister, Prabhakar said that it has given him immense pleasure in serving the department and is unforgettable in his life.

District Collector S Satyanarayana said the government has launched a novel programme, Mana Vooru—Mana Badi for the benefit of dropouts in higher classes besides enrolling fresh admissions in class one for those, who have crossed five years of age. Achieving cent percent literacy is also another aim of the programme, he added. The Collector stated that every government school has been facilitated with drinking water besides toilets and serving mid-day meal to children.

Admissions would commence from 23rd to 30th of this month and appealed to the students and parents to utilise the programme. Later, Deputy Chief Minister accompanied with other officials released a brochure of Mana Vooru—Mana Badi besides admit cards to the children. KUDA Chairman Somisetty Venkateswarlu, DEO Tahera Sultana, Municipal Commissioner Dr CB Harinath Reddy, students and parents were present.
