Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu gave his nod for the construction of 1,000 apartments for the commercial purpose in an extent of 10 acres in Amaravati capital city.

All these apartments will be auctioned on ‘no loss no benefit’ basis, informed urban development minister P Narayana at a press conference here on Wednesday after attending a review meeting held by the Chief Minister on the Capital Region Development Authority(CRDA) officials.

The base price per square feet is fixed at Rs 3,500 and the apartments will be constructed in 1,200, 1,500 and 1,700 sq fts. Narayana said 500 apartments of 1,200 sq ft, 300 apartments of 1,500 sq ft and 200 apartments of 1,700 sq ft will be constructed.

He said the CRDA will also invite tenders for the construction of main government administration buildings within a couple of days. After construction of the high court and administrative buildings, thousands of employees and others will come and likely to settle in the capital.

Hence the government decided to construct these apartments at a cost of Rs 494 crore and all the apartments will be in G+11 towers, he said. The Chief Minister also said the capital city must be equipped to meet the infrastructure requirements of 38,000 families and added the number is likely to go up and we must be able to take care of any kind of demand.

To increase the revenue generation, the CRDA officials proposed collecting user charges from commercial firms such as pipeline ducts, gas and petrol stations.

The officials also proposed that all type of cables and pipelines in the new city must pass through these ducts. CRDA officials proposed a unique mall complex made of temporary structures which will be modelled on the lines of a street market in the capital city.

The mall will be an open structure and only the showrooms in it will have traditional roofs and walls. The purpose of this experiment is to save electricity and bring a feeling of community among the people.

The mall will be spread over an area of 10 acres and will have all the facilities such as multiplex, food court and parking. “In the coming days, people will also be coming to visit Amaravati for various business and tourism purposes.

We must assess all the requirements that may come up in future and work accordingly. Container concept hotels are one of those requirements that we are working on,” said Naidu speaking on the container concept hotels.

Currently, Hotel Murali Fortune is collaborating with ITC to bring up similar hotels in Vijayawada, he said. The management and procurement of funds for the capital development was also discussed at length in the meeting where the officials informed Naidu on HUDCO and other institutions.

The officials informed on the potential opportunities in capital development if NRIs are involved through bonds. Speaking on Amaravati and its financial potential, the Chief Minister said, “Due to its potential in revenue generation, Amaravati is going to be the biggest asset for AP.”

The meeting also witnessed exchange of two MoUs between Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA), NTR Health University and residential school officials.

The agreements are aimed to create awareness and take necessary steps towards menstrual hygiene, breast cancer and cervical cancer among some issues related to women health and wellbeing.

In the meeting, Naidu also discussed on the proposed 203 Anna Canteens which will be opened across the state in May first week. The officials informed Naidu that out of 203 Anna Canteens sanctioned, 187 sites have been identified and 39 sites have been handed over to authorities.
All works related to Anna Canteens must be completed within stipulated time, Naidu directed the officials.

“We need to work within the timeframe and there shouldn’t be any compromise on quality of work, said Naidu while speaking to the representatives of agencies. The meeting was attended by MP Galla Jayadev, minister P. Narayana, principal secretary G Sai Prasad, principal secretary (energy) Ajai Jain and NTR Health University vice-chancellor Dr C V Rao among others.
