Juice, fruit vendors make a fast buck
The wayside vendors are making a fast buck as the temperatures are rising for the past few days. Vendors, who are selling pumpkins, cold drinks, lassies and palm fruits are doing brisk business.
Vizianagaram: The wayside vendors are making a fast buck as the temperatures are rising for the past few days. Vendors, who are selling pumpkins, cold drinks, lassies and palm fruits are doing brisk business.
Summer businesses like selling of fruits, water melons, caps and sun glasses are on the rise as the day temperature is rising gradually in the coastal districts. The minimum temperature during the day in the coming days will reach up to 40 degrees.
Most of the people in the city are remaining indoors and are fearing to venture out after 10 am. They are feeling suffocated with relative humidity in the coastal areas. As a result, part time traders have set up fruit juice selling centres at every junction and making a lot of money.
They are setting up a small cart on roadside and selling juices at Rs 20 per glass and earning around Rs1,000 per day. Speaking to The Hans India here, K Nagamani, a housewife said: “My children and family members like to eat palm fruits in this season and so, I purchase them on a regular basis.”
Even roadside fruit vendors are also doing good business. Water melons and musk melons are being sold in huge quantities as they are cheaper than grapes, pomegranate and others. Now, people have become more health conscious and they are ready to spend more on fruits, which are good for health.
Palm fruits are available in large quantities in these areas and they are being sold at Rs 30 per dozen. These are good for health. K Appa Rao, palm fruit vendor in Vizianagaram said, “I bring these fruits from my farmland and selling them at Rs 25 to Rs 30 per dozen. People prefer to eat them as they are good for health. I am earning around Rs 500 to Rs 700 per day. This is seasonal income for me."
