Shade nets provide relief to motorists

Kurnool: With the district recording highest temperatures, the Kurnool Municipal Corporation authorities have come with a novel idea of protecting motorists from scorching heat at signal points by fixing shade nets which are used in green houses.

The authorities not only provided the shade nets at traffic junctions but also arranged at the Collectorate, civic body office and other government offices where people visit frequently. The citizens are lauding the novel thought of the Corporation authorities.

Speaking to The Hans India, CB Harinath Reddy, Commissioner of Kurnool Municipal Corporation, said that the district is registering abnormal temperatures during summer with each passing year. “We struck with an idea to provide shade nets.

We first experimented at Raj Vihar Centre and it yielded good results. The motorists were happy andalso we received good response from the city residents,” he stated. Moving a step ahead, the civic chief stated shade nets were fixed at the Collector Complex.

During grievance day, people from nook and corner had visited the Collectorate and most of them were seen sitting under the shade of trees. “So, we thought of providing the shade net and now it is accommodating more number of people.

The same process has been implemented in the premises of Corporation too,” he added. He also said that civic body has set up water kiosks where buttermilk is also being served to the pedestrians and motorists. He made an appeal to the people to be aware of sun strokes and to drink more water and buttermilk rather than consuming cool drinks.
