Chittoor: In order to intensify the agitation for Special Category Status (SCS), all the top heroes and the artistes of Telugu Cinema Industry should join the movement for Special Category Status to exert pressure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at all levels, said C Srinivasa Rao, State president, Special Category Status Sadhana Samithi.

He said irrespective of their flags and agendas, political parties should join hands in the unique movement for SCS. Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Srinivas recalled that all the prominent artistes of the Tamil Nadu Film Industry fought against the Central government for protection of Jellikattu tradition in their State.

“The artistes of Telugu Film Industry should invariably come out from their tracks to achieve the Special Category Status. There would be tremendous impact on the movement if Telugu film heroes and heroines join hands in the movement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi would yield to the pressure if the movement for the SCS is intensified,” he added. He appealed to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to take the initiative to secure the support of Telugu film artistes.

Speaking on the strategy of SCS Sadhana Samithi, he reiterated that Bus Yatra would be organised to Karnataka state shortly to meet the Telugus for seeking their support for SCS movement. There are about 46 Assembly constituencies in Karnataka State where Telugu voters would decide the fate of the contesting candidates.

In order to teach a lesson to the Prime Minister in the Karnataka State, there was a need to defeat the BJP candidates in Karnataka elections, he felt. District YSRCP Mahila chief Gayathri Devi, Sadhana Samithi district convenor Jayaraj , CPM secretary C Venkataiah, Congress leaders Tikki Rayal and others were present.
