Various Civil Society organisations condemned the crime against women taking place in various parts of the state and country and decided to stage a protest on May 5 demanding that the government punish the killers of Asifa in Jammu and Kashmir.  

Vijayawada: Various Civil Society organisations condemned the crime against women taking place in various parts of the state and country and decided to stage a protest on May 5 demanding that the government punish the killers of Asifa in Jammu and Kashmir.

Representatives of the organisations participated in a round-table organised by the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) state secretary M Surya Rao here on Wednesday at MBVK Bhavan. All the organisations decided to protest at Punnami Ghat on May 5 against the crime against women and children.

Addressing a gathering, POW state secretary Ganga Bhavani said that RSS ideologies which reflect Manu philosophies crushes the rights of women. She said that women should be first treated as human beings in society.

City Congress Committee president Sunkara Padmasri said all Civil Society Organisation should unite and fight against such barbaric incidents. She said that the media impact was more on younger generations and these days they are addicting to pornography which in-turn resulting in rapes.

AIDWA state secretary D Rama Devi said politics, land and religious issues were involved in the rape and murder of Asifa in Jammu. She demanded that the government render justice to victims and punish the culprits within six months.

AIYF state leader Arun Kumar said by chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ a minor was tortured for a week in a temple which is not pardonable by any God. He said that Andhra Pradesh stands second in rape cases after Uttar Pradesh which is in first place, he added.
