Palacol MLA stages dharna
Palacole MLA Nimmala Ramanaidu staged a dharna in front of water resources department office here on Wednesday in protest against the delay in taking up delta modernisation works in West Godavari district. The modernisation works are going on at a snail’s pace in the district even after a decade. This led to anger among the farming community and the MLA.

The modernisation works are going on at a snail’s pace in the district even after a decade. This led to anger among the farming community and the MLA.
The MLA and TDP State Organising Secretary Ramanaidu reached Eluru in the morning and went to superintending engineer’s office of water resources department near the Collectorate. The MLA squatted in front of the SE’s chamber. The MLA vented his ire over functioning of the water resources officials.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that the water resources officials so far neither gave the work orders in regard to the delta modernisation works nor started the modernisation works. He said that the water resources department officials are showing negligence on the modernisation works.
The superintending engineer of water resources department R Raghunath assured the MLA that those works would be completed. However, the MLA did not listen and demanded them for written assurance.
The officials taken the issue to the notice of the higher officials, but in vain. In turn, the officials approached Minister for Water Resources Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and the Minister spoke to MLA Ramanaidu and assured him of solving the problem.
