The descendants of two political families Vangaveeti and Devineni are losing their prominence in Vijayawada city politics. Vangaveeti Radhakrishna, son of Vangaveeti Ranga, is now getting ready to contest from Vijayawada Central constituency on YSR Congress Party ticket.
Vijayawada: The descendants of two political families Vangaveeti and Devineni are losing their prominence in Vijayawada city politics. Vangaveeti Radhakrishna, son of Vangaveeti Ranga, is now getting ready to contest from Vijayawada Central constituency on YSR Congress Party ticket.
Indeed, the YSR Congress leadership proposed to give him party ticket for Machilipatnam Parliament and Avanigadda Assembly segment initially.
Eventually, Vangaveeti Radha could manage to get the nod to contest from Vijayawada Central constituency after his insistence on party leadership. YSR Congress President YS Jaganmohan Reddy gave green signal to Radhakrishna in his recent ‘Prajasankalpa Yatra’ in the city.
According to sources, YS Jaganmohan Reddy actually preferred the former MLA Malladi Vishnu’s candidature for Central constituency. But the party considered Radha’s candidature taking into consideration of Ranga’s image.
On the other hand, Devineni Rajasekhar (Nehru)'s son Avinash still didn't get any clarity about his political future. His father rejoined Telugu Desam for Avinash’s political future only. But still he is in dilemma on whether the Telugu Desam will give the party ticket to him or not. After the demise of Devineni Nehru, there are some doubts on the prospects of Avinash though he was actively taking part in party programmes.
Recently, he conducted his father’s death anniversary on a grand manner. On the occasion, MLA Jaleel Khan, who started political career as a friend of Devineni Nehru, urged Nara Lokesh to give ticket to Avinash. Presently, Minister for Water Resources Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, who also started career from Devineni Nehru’s camp, is now supporter to Avinash.
But how he can take the responsibility of Avinash is a million dollar question. On the other hand, Avinash gathered a huge crowd for recent Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s Deeksha for making it a success. He contested for Vijayawada Parliament from Congress in the last elections.
Actually, Devineni Nehru has strong supporters in the all constituencies in the district. Especially, the Devineni Nehru family has strong hold in the limits of Vijayawada Parliament constituency and Penamaluru, Vijayawada East and part of Mylavaram and Gannavaram Assembly segments. Devineni Nehru won four times consecutively from Kanakipadu constituency. Now, it is expanded in four constituencies.
Telugu Desam Party former corporator Bobba Srinivas Rao, speaking to The Hans India said that Avinash has won the hearts of party workers and common public. The TDP should use his services by giving ticket to him, he opined.
