Visakhapatnam: Advisor IT and Special Chief Secretary J A Chowdhary said that in order to protect the government information and information of the banking and financial sectors from the cyber attacks, more number of cyber security experts needed in the coming days.

The state government already drafted an action plan to develop the skills to shape up the youth as cyber warriors, he added. Andhra Pradesh Information Technology Academy, GITAM University and 16 IT companies organised State-level ‘cyberthon’ on Thursday.

Addressing the IT professionals, Chowdhary said that already the state government identified the need and importance of the cyber security and established India’s biggest Cyber Security Tower in Amaravati. The government has also decided to conduct competitions on ‘Cyberthon’ on every six months at all the district headquarters to create awareness on the cyber security, he added.

As part of the series of programmes, the first ever international-level cyber hackathon in association with Israel will be held shortly, the Government IT Advisor said.

Pro Vice-Chancellor, GITAM University K Siva Rama Krishna, Chief Technology Officer of GITAM Centre for Advanced Technology Solution G Goplakrishna and several other officers from various institutions including banks also spoke.
