Visakhapatnam: For the first time in Andhra Pradesh, Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, MVP Colony launched 'da vinci xi,' an advanced robotic surgery technology here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, institute Managing Director Dr V Murali Krishna said that with the advanced technology, the patients can be treated within short period without any blood loss.

The major cancer cells can be identified and easily removed without any other medical tests, he said and added the patient who underwent surgery under the advanced technology can be recovered at a fast pace compared to the traditional treatment methods.

With the help of robotic arc, the critical operations can be done within a short span with less blood loss, he said and added the operation marks and spots were not visible even after the surgery was done with this technology.

The MD of the hospital also announced that HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao would inaugurate a Full Field Digital Mammography with 3D tomsynthesis to help examine breast tissue for breast cancer on April 27.

Digital mammography is a specialised form of mammography that uses digital receptors and computers instead of x-ray film to help examine breast tissue for breast cancer.
