Minor girl raped in Sitampeta
An 8-year-old girl was raped by her neighbour at Somagandi in Sitampeta mandal on Wednesday and the incident came to light when parents of the girl lodged a complaint with the police on Thursday.
Srikakulam: An 8-year-old girl was raped by her neighbour at Somagandi in Sitampeta mandal on Wednesday and the incident came to light when parents of the girl lodged a complaint with the police on Thursday.
According to police, the accused G Santhu picked the girl from a marriage function and took her to his house and raped her. The accused is a married person and having wife. The girl cried with blood injuries and was admitted at Sitampeta primary health centre (PHC) where she explained about the incident to the doctor. Later, the doctor informed to the police.
After due verification of facts, the police registered a case against accused under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and took him into their custody to collect evidence. Later the girl was shifted to Palakonda area hospital, police said.
