Regional meet on SC, ST Act at SVU on May 6
Leaders of various SC, ST associations in Chittoor district which met here on Thursday resolved to building strong public opinion against the dilution of SC, ST Atrocities (prevention) Act.
Tirupati: Leaders of various SC, ST associations in Chittoor district which met here on Thursday resolved to building strong public opinion against the dilution of SC, ST Atrocities (prevention) Act.
The meet presided by VK Viswanath, National president of Madiga Lawyers Association strongly opposed any move to dilute the SC, ST Atrocities Act and called on the associations be prepped for a mass movement to press the Central government take required steps against any dilution of the act to protect the interests of SCs and STs.
The meet resolved to conduct a regional-level meeting here in SV University Auditorium on May 6 to be held as preparatory exercise for the meeting in Warangal on May 27 in which representation of various SC, ST associations will participate to chalk out the future course of action against SC, ST Act dilution. Among those attended include AP Scheduled Castes Welfare Association president Paramasivan, ST Association district president Gundala Naik and SC, ST associations representatives from various colleges and universities in the city.
