Vijayawada: Following protests from various religious organisations across the nation, the Central government was forced to file a review petition on the changes made in SC and ST Atrocities Act, said former chief secretary Kaki Madhava Rao.

He was the chief guest at the awareness programme organised by SC and ST organisations at MBVK Bhavan here on Thursday. Addressing the gathering, he said that as soon as the Supreme Court passed orders on the changes in the SC and ST Act, the government should have immediately filed a review petition. But the government did not take any action, he regretted.

He said that when the whole country was against the Supreme Court verdict on the SC and ST Act, the Central government, with no option left filed the review petition. He appealed to all the state governments to file review petitions against the Supreme Court modified order on the same.
MLA Sravan Kumar, SC ST Chaitanya Sadasu leader D Subba Rao, G Jhansi, M Siva Kumar and others were present.
