Vijayawada: The police and transport department officials continued the Road Safety Week celebrations by organising an awareness programme in the city on Saturday. Additional deputy commissioner of police (traffic) T V Nagaraju, ACP Sravan Kumar, traffic circle inspectors, sub-inspectors, constables and other participated in the awareness programme organised near Food Junction on BRTS Road and near Vinayaka temple at One Town.

Road Safety Week began on April 23 in the city and continuing in different parts of the city. The police distributed hundreds of roses and chocolates to the two wheeler riders for wearing the helmets and asked them to continue it for their safety. The police explained the importance of using helmets, seat belts and following the traffic rules. The city police, along with the transport department officials, every year conduct the Road Safety Week and create awareness on ill effects of drunken driving, rash driving and over loading. On Friday, awareness programme was conducted on the MG Road.
