Vijayawada: The two cyber crime offenders were arrested and Rs 1.60 lakh cash and five cell phones were seized from them here on Friday. Sonu Kumar and Arun Kumar of Uttar Pradesh cheated several innocent people in the name of online lottery.

According to police, the duo telephoned one woman of Thotlavalluru in Krishna district and informed that her name was selected for Rs 5 crore worth bumper lottery. They also said that the lottery amount would be given to her after paying charges like customs, freight and taxes.

The woman believed their offer and paid Rs 1.60 lakh but later she realised that she was taken for a ride and lodged a complaint with Thotlavalluru police after suspecting their background. Police launched a probe and took them into custody.

In the investigation, police found that the duo cheated more than 345 persons in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States. But finally the police arrested them by deploying special teams. Police Commissioner Goutam Sawang said that the people should not believe such kind of people and inform the police, if they receive fake lottery calls.
