Vizianagaram: The people in the district are facing trouble for the past few days with the unauthorised power cuts. Daily the Transco officials are implementing around four hours power cut. It may be recalled that people didn’t experience power cuts in the past few years. After TDP came to power in 2014, the government had taken many measures to give quality power to the public. As a result, the people, especially small vendors, traders, farmers are happy.

But the situation is completely changed and now the people are expressing their displeasure over the staff on power cuts. Power interruptions are irking the people, especially children, senior citizens. K.Narayana, a juice shop vendor at RTC complex said: “I am earning around Rs 2,500 per day by selling juices for the past few weeks. But now I can’t sell more than Rs 1000 per day due to power cuts. I am not a big trader to maintain generator”.

“Due to power cuts, I am unable to complete daily chores like using washing machine and grinder”, said K Sridevi of Natraj Colony K Trinatha Rao, divisional engineer of EPDCL said:”There is no official power cut in our district. But we are undertaking pre- monsoon maintenance under every substation. And, we are stopping power supply while laying new lines in ring road area. While shifting the electric polls also, we are stopping power supply. Even sometimes load relief measures also being undertaken. So, the public are feeling that we are imposing power cuts but, it’s not true”.
