Tirupati: Amidst scorching heat, the pilgrim city has been generating political heat as it prepares for ‘Dharma Poratam’ protest to be held on Monday demanding the fulfillment of all promises made by Prime Minster Narendra Modi during his election campaign in 2014.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will be reaching Tirupati on Monday to participate in the public meeting to be held at SV University’s Tarakarama Stadium. The meeting will be held from 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm in which all senior leaders of the TDP will be participating.

Several party leaders and ministers have already reached Tirupati and looking after the arrangements at the Stadium. The TDP has been taking this public meeting prestigiously as it would be the first one to be held in a series of meetings across the State in the next few months.

The party chose Tirupati as its first venue to remind the people of the promises made by Narendra Modi as BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate on April 30, 2014 during his election campaign.

Modi addressed his first election meeting in AP at Tirupati after visiting Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala at that time. Modi addressed the public at Tarakarama Stadium and assured that if he comes to power, he will accord the Special Category Status (SCS) to AP and build a capital that can compete with New Delhi among other promises.

After four years, the TDP government has realised that none of the demands are going to be met and came out of NDA by withdrawing their ministers also from the Central Cabinet.

In the ongoing fight for SCS, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has decided to organise ‘Dharma Poratam’ meeting to bring all facts before the people on how the Modi government has betrayed the State of AP and to expose the trio – The BJP, YSRCP and Pawan Kalyan trying to join hands with a conspiracy. Minister Amarnatha Reddy, MLC Payyavula Keshav and others have been camping in Tirupati for the last couple of days to look after the arrangements.

The party leaders are committed to make the public meeting a grand success and show their strength to the nation. The leaders state that the entire nation was looking towards the meeting and how Naidu would expose the betrayal theory of the trio.

Speaking to The Hans India, TDP district president Pulivarthy Nani said that about 1.5 lakh people are expected to attend the public meeting. “They are all coming voluntarily to express their solidarity with the Chief Minister in his fight against the Central government on SCS issue and other unfulfilled promises and betrayal attitude of PM Modi,” he pointed out.

People have arranged their own buses and according to the information, about 1700 buses from three Parliamentary Constituencies Tirupati, Chittoor and Rajampet, which spread across the district and some segments in Kadapa district, are coming to the meet.

In all from 19 Assembly constituencies people are going to attend the meeting. From Chittoor district itself, 1400 buses are coming apart from 3,500 four-wheelers. About 10,000 students will be coming in 400 buses, he said.

“We took all steps to provide drinking water bottles, butter milk packets, snacks inside the stadium and food packets during their return journey for all the people. And this public meeting will take our fight against the Central government’s attitude to new heights,” Nani maintained.
