Visakhapatnam: City tennis player Ananth Mani Muni has been selected for Zeeshan Ali Tennis Academy in Bengaluru to undergo training at the residential coaching centre of Zeeshan Ali for three years.

The 14-year-old Ananth Mani Muni, a Class-IX student of Sree Krishna Grammar School, Adarsh Nagar, in the city is one among 11 tennis players from Andhra Pradesh selected for the residential coaching camp under 14-years age group boys category.

The boy has clinched many medals in inter-district and inter-state tennis tournaments. The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) has done extensive selection camp in Vizag for junior players for admission into the Indian Davis Cup coach Zeeshan Ali’s Tennis Academy in February 2018.

Speaking to The Hans India, the District Sports Development Officer (DSDO), Visakhapatnam, June Gallyot, said that the coaching programme is a part of the state government’s mission-based programme to develop the state in all areas, including sports.

It may be recalled that the Sports Policy 2017-22 envisioned by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. In all, 11 junior players from across the state were selected based on not only ITA ranking but also the talent.

Expressing happiness over his student’s selection for the academy, the principal of Sree Krishna Grammar School, Mohan Krishna, said that Ananth Mani Muni will bring laurels to Visakhapatnam and country in the coming days as his determination, discipline and commitment would help him in his growth in the sport.
