The Buddha Jayanti was jointly celebrated by Amaravati Buddha Vihara, Andhra Pradesh Creativity and Culture Commission and Cultural Centre of Vijayawada and Amaravati (CCVA) here on Wednesday, according to CCVA CEO Dr E Sivanagi Reddy.

Vijayawada: The Buddha Jayanti was jointly celebrated by Amaravati Buddha Vihara, Andhra Pradesh Creativity and Culture Commission and Cultural Centre of Vijayawada and Amaravati (CCVA) here on Wednesday, according to CCVA CEO Dr E Sivanagi Reddy.

Orthopaedic surgeon Dr Y Purnachandra Rao was the chief guest on the occasion and inaugurated the exhibition on the Buddhist sites and monuments.

A book ‘Dharma Ratanalu’ penned by T Sitarami Reddy was launched and a dance ballet on ‘Buddha Charitam’ was performed by Swatantra Bharati Ramesh with his troupe.

Golla Narayana Rao, secretary of Andhra Arts Academy, Matta Jhansi Rani, state treasurer of the BSI, Narendranath, Dr Gumma Sambasiva Rao, Dr Venna Vallabha Rao and other Buddhists from the city participated in the event.
