Vijayawada: District Collector B Lakshmikantham said that the ongoing works of two flyovers at Durga temple and Benz Circle in the city would be completed by this November.

Addressing the Meet-the-Press programme here on Friday, he said that his aim is to increase the public satisfaction level from 77 per cent to 85 per cent in the district.

He also said that the Machilipatnam port works would begin in the next month. The ongoing national highway-65 road widening work would also be completed by this November.

The District Collector said that the government would construct Economic City in 280 acres at Jakkampudi village on the outskirts of Vijayawada. The proposed city would provide employment opportunities, he said.

The district administration was successfully implementing various government schemes, he said and added that Krishna district stood first compared to other districts in the state.

Especially, the district was top in the country in shrimp and fish cultivation, he said and added that the district achieved similar progress in horticulture and dairy development.

The government set up industrial parks at Mallavalli and Veerapanenigudem in Krishna district. Nearly, 30,000 students and unemployed youth could get jobs through the job melas conducted by the district administration, he said.

The government was constructing Anganwadi buildings, gram panchayat buildings spending Rs 870 crore, he said. The schools in the district were being digitised with the support of NRIs, he said.

The district was top in the state in providing basic facilities in the villages. Similarly, the district was at the top position in the implementation of e-Office, bio-metric and clearance of grievances, he said.
