Kadapa: The state government is keen on completing the 10 irrigation projects in the district for providing water to 10 lakh acres and drinking water to 52 mandals, said Telugu Ganga (TG) Special Collector S V Nageswara Rao.

Speaking to The Hans India, Rao stated irrigation projects like Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS), Galeru Nagari Sujala Sravanthi (GNSS), Pulivendula Branch Canal, Srinivasapuram Reservoir, Mylavaram Branch Canal, Telugu Ganga Project and Somasila Project will be completed on war-foot basis.

Regarding the land acquisition, the TG Special Collector said 1.39 lakh acres was acquired as against the requirement of 1.54 lakh acres. He stated a total of Rs 1,448 crore is required for acquisition of 14,611 acres.

“Once the GNSS project is completed then the water can be supplied to 2.6 lakh acres in Kadapa, Chittoor and Nellore districts. Drinking water can be supplied to 5 lakh people residing in 640 villages and towns,” he said, adding proposals were sent to the government for Rs 637.2 crores for acquiring land in 8 villages.
