Hyderabad: In a warning to north coastal Andhra Pradesh, the Met department bulletin said on Friday that thunderstorms with gusty winds are likely to occur at isolated places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts on May 5 and 6.

The bulletin said in the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Friday, there were thunderstorms with gusty winds at isolated places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts and the entire Rayalaseema region.

Very heavy rain occurred at isolated places in YSR-Kadapa district. Heavy rain occurred at isolated places in Chittoor, YSR-Kadapa, Anantapur (Rayalaseema) and Krishna (coastal Andhra), with Kodur in Kadapa district recording 15 cm of rainfall and Tirumala 10 cm. The highest maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius was recorded in Anantapur.

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in the state were: Kadiri, Tanakal (both in Anantapur), Vempalle (Kadapa), Nallamada (Anantapur), Pakala (Chittoor), Nuzvid (Krishna) 7 each, Obuladevaracheruvu (Anantapur), Allagadda (Kurnool), Tirupati, Tirupati Airport, Avanigada (Krishna), Mundlamuru (Prakasam), Vinjamur (Nellore) 6 each, Penagaluru (Kadapa), Chittoor, Muddanur (Kadapa), Amadagur (Anantapur), Vijayawada Airport, Repalle (Guntur) 5 each, Bestavaripeta (Prakasam), Chintapalle (Visakhapatnam), Yerragondapalem (Prakasam), Cumbum (Prakasam), Tenali, Pagidyala (Kurnool), Pulivendula (Kadapa), Dhone (Kurnool), Nandikotkur (Kurnool), Gorantla (Anantapur) 4 each.

There was three cm of rain each in Chilamathur, Madanapalle, Ramagiri, Pullampeta, Agali, Chenne Kothapalle, Thambalapalle, Jupadu Bungalow, Kuppam, Arogyavaram, Gurramkonda, Dharmavaram, Palasamudram, Rajampet, Veligandla,Yelamanchili and Tuni.

According to forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at isolated places in the coastal and Rayalaseema districts from May 5 to 8. No large change during the period May 9 to 11 in the weather outlook.
