Vijayawada: An awareness programme in the form of Burra Katha was organised by Vijayawada city police and Vasavya Mahila Mandali at Tarakaramanagar in Krishnalanka here on Friday.

The programme was organised to create awareness on women’s rights and crime against women in the form of storytelling. Krishnalanka Circle Inspector Chandrashekar said that suicide is not the solution for any problem and women should be brave enough to face the problem.

He said that harassment of women at various places, Domestic Violence Act, Section 498 (A), ragging, sexual harassment at work place were performed in the form of Burra Katha.

He appealed to the gathering that the women should lodge complaints against any such kind of harassment with the Mahila Mithra coordinators at the police station to get the culprit punished. VMM staff Anupama, Sunitha and Mahila Mithra coordinators and others were present.
