Vijayawada: Vasavya Mahila Mandali with the cooperation of the Nabard on Saturday launched a 30-day training programme in motorcycle repairing for 30 youth.

Inaugurating the programme, DDM of Nabard Vijay Turimella said that every family has at least one motorcycle and they might have to spend lots of money on repairs even though they are minor. He hoped that this training would help the youth to undertake repairs for their bikes and if necessary to start a mechanic shop to serve others.

G Rashmi, secretary of Vasavya Mahila Mandali, appealed to the youth who attended to complete the training. The VMM would provide food and travel allowance to the trainees, she said and added that youth should train themselves in one trade or another to live independently.

Programme manager K Srinivasa Rao said that the training would help the youth to go for self-employment. “In case of repairs, the motorcycle owners need to travel long distance to find a mechanic. This training programme would solve that problem,” he added.
