Tirupati: Former Congress MP Chinta Mohan visited the Institute of Pregnant Women (IPW) building here on Saturday and expressed happiness that the facility has finally came into use for the poorer sections.

He was instrumental in getting the approvals for this 300 bedded hospital in 2012. He said that till now the building was being used for out-patients only while from Friday it became fully operational and all deliveries were being taken up there. During his visit, Mohan interacted with the patients and enquired about the medical facilities they were getting.

He said, the Centre and State governments have to allocate another Rs 100 crore to provide latest equipment and other infrastructure at the IPW building like MRI, CT scan, mobile ultrasound system, modern lab, water beds, air-conditioners and other facilities. He exuded confidence of securing Rs 120 crore for cancer hospital and international cricket stadium in Tirupati.
