AP NGO association president Ashok Babu is on the backfoot. After his tour of Karnataka to campaign against the BJP ended in a fiasco, he has come in for lot of criticism. The people have demanded to know who funded his travels and questioned how a government employee could take part in the campaigning.

He told media persons that he did not campaign on behalf of the TDP. He said he represented AP Hakkula Sadhana Samithi and led a team of 15 persons. He said he was ready to resign from his job if he is harassed. He said he was not taking up agitations in AP only because he did not want to trouble the Telugu Desam Government.

It may be recalled that Ashok Babu organized a meeting of Telugu community in Bengaluru, where he asked the people not to vote for the BJP and vote for the Congress. This led to ruckus with local Telugus questioning his credentials. He also organized another meeting in Marthahalli –Whitefields Road. There too, a huge section of the Telugus opposed him. This led to fisticuffs between the pro and anti-TDP wings.
