Nellore: Nellore Industrial Safety and Security Corporation (NISCO) which was planned on the lines of Cyberabad Security Council (CSS) to prevent accidents in the industries and to adopt foolproof security measures in the organisations is delayed due to teething troubles.

In fact, the state government had planned to replicate the model in the district as part of AP Public Safety Act, 2013 a couple of years ago and various line departments have planned to launch the Corporation. There was no further development.

There has been a demand for safety and security measures in the mushrooming industries in the district. State government also encouraged the entrepreneurs to promote industries and now Krishnapatnam and Sri City are turning into important industrial zones.

Guntur Range IG N Sanjay organised a meet and stressed on the need to float the corporation. A core team from the Krishnapatnam Port, Sri City and the district police was also formed for further action in the matter.

The industrial organisations normally spend money under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for safety and security issues and they can join the proposed Corporation contributing their share. Industrial organisations have to install CCTV cameras, alarms and deploy expert security personnel and disaster management teams.

Police department acts as mentor to promote healthy and safe security measures in the organisations and 80-100 organisations have come forward to start the activities in the first phase. There are more than 500 industrial organisations in the district and majority also expressed their readiness to join the Council/Corporation.

“Preparatory meetings were conducted a year ago for floating the NISCO but it was not registered as a legal body till now. Groundwork has been done and there are chances for taking up activities,” said the Additional SP B Sarat Babu who is member of the core team.

Patrolling teams, chip based wireless connectivity to contact Rakshak teams and others to face any untoward incidents were also planned as part of security measures.
