Tirupati: City people will soon get rid of their woes at Rayalacheruvu railway gate. At present people have been facing severe hardship to move from north to south side of the city and vice versa as the railway gate became a hindrance for free vehicular movement.

The level crossing gate no.104 at RC road is a very busy area with an average of about four lakh vehicles of all types travel from one side to another per day. The gate has to be closed very frequently as the trains towards Chittoor and Katpadi sections pass through this railway gate.

The people have been demanding for many years for a solution to this problem. Tirupati MP V Varaprasad took initiative in this regard and working for a solution.

Accordingly, South Central Railway GM Vinod Kumar Yadav and Guntakal DRM Vijay Prathap Singh made several visits to Tirupati. They came to the conclusion that railway under bridge (RUB) will be the only option before them and ROB will not be possible there due to various reasons. The cost of RUB is estimated at Rs 8 crore.

On Monday, Tirupati MP V Varaprasad held discussions with Railway authorities. Later, speaking to the media he said, Railway GM has assured him that the tenders for RUB at 104 level crossing at RC gate will be called in the next 10 days.

“I have already held several rounds of discussions with former Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu and present minister Piyush Goyal on the development of Tirupati station and they have agreed.

Now, the plan for RUB is ready for execution very soon”, he maintained. Out of the estimated outlay of Rs.8 crores, 50 percent will be borne by the Railways and the remaining has to be borne by the Municipal Corporation for shifting of drain and approach road works.

MP assured that he will provide Rs.1 crore from his MP LADS and another Rs.1 crore from next year funds. Station Manager M Subodh Mithra and other officials were present.
