Kadapa: The cops arrested 17 woodcutters belonging to Tamil Nadu on Tuesday and recovered Rs 50 lakh worth 17 red sanders logs and a four-wheeler from them at Sugali Bidiki village, close to forest area, in Chintakommadinne mandal.

Addressing the media in Chintakommadinne police station, Additional SP Adnan Nayeem Asmi said, on a tip off, the police conducted raids at Sugali Bidiki village when the accused were ready to smuggle the red sanders logs in a vehicle.

During the interrogation, the SP said the woodcutters have admitted that they trespassed into the Lankamalleswara forest and fell the red sanders trees for transporting them to Chennai. The ASP appreciated the cops for arresting the woodcutters and declared rewards to them.
