Devotees in the attire of ‘Bairagi’ have offered prayers to Goddess Gangamma here on Wednesday, as part of Gangamma Jathara. Large number of men, women and children in the guise of Bairagi took out a rally in groups in pilgrim city and reached the temple near TUDA office.

Tirupati: Devotees in the attire of ‘Bairagi’ have offered prayers to Goddess Gangamma here on Wednesday, as part of Gangamma Jathara. Large number of men, women and children in the guise of Bairagi took out a rally in groups in pilgrim city and reached the temple near TUDA office.

As part of fulfilling their vows, devotees carried pots on their heads and went around the temple. Later, they offered prayers at an alter in front of the temple. Archakas have performed special poojas to Goddess Gangamma on the occasion.

The temple trust set up a free buttermilk distribution centre to quench the thirst of the devotees. Tirupati Urban cops have arranged security in and around the temple and installed CCTV cameras to avoid untoward incidents.

A special control room was set up by the east sub division police near the temple. District officials have started a medical camp to deal with emergency cases.
