House raided; spurious cotton seeds seized

The officials of the Agriculture department conducted raids on a house in Sri Nagar Colony in Adoni and seized Rs 6 lakh spurious cotton seeds on Wednesday. Mandal Agriculture Officer (MAO) P Papi Reddy said that on Venkateswarlu stacked spurious cotton seeds of BT2 variety in his house.
Adoni (Kurnool): The officials of the Agriculture department conducted raids on a house in Sri Nagar Colony in Adoni and seized Rs 6 lakh spurious cotton seeds on Wednesday. Mandal Agriculture Officer (MAO) P Papi Reddy said that on Venkateswarlu stacked spurious cotton seeds of BT2 variety in his house.
‘Based on the information, we have raided the house of Venkateswarlu and seized the spurious cotton seeds weighing nearly 400 kilos,” he added. The MAO said a case was filed against Venkateswarlu under 6A of the Essential Commodities ct. The seed would be sent to lab for testing as BT2 is a banned variety, he said.
