Srikakulam: Zilla Parishad Chairperson Ch Dhanalaxmi, along with 43 persons, including ZPTCs and MPPs and Zilla Parishad staff, who were stranded in Char Dham for a day, reportedly reached a safe place on Wednesday.

It may be recalled that the team went on a study tour to three states Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on May 3. As a part of it, they studied local bodies functioning in these states and went to Char Dham on Monday.

Similarly, pilgrims from Srikakulam and Narasannapeta, who went on a pilgrimage to Char Dham, too, were stranded for a day due to heavy mist, but reached a safe place.

Due to heavy mist and adverse climatic conditions, they were stranded for a day and worried over their safety. On receiving information, Minister for Energy K Kala Venkata Rao, Minister for Transport K Atchannaidu, MP K Rammohan Naidu alerted the Andhra Bhavan officials in New Delhi and in turn, they contacted the Uttarakhand state officials to rescue the Zilla Parishad team.

With restoration of normalcy, they reached Guptakaasi on Wednesday evening. Palakonda and Burja ZPTCs, S Domodara Rao and A Ramakrishna informed this newspaper over phone that they are safe and reached Guptakaasi and Rudraprayaga. Another team of pilgrims from Narasannapeta also reached safe place from Char Dham, according to relatives of the pilgrims here.
