The DSDC is the first of its kind institution in the private sector sponsored by the Divis Laboratories Limited (DLL). There are over 10 villages in and around of DLL, and the company has adopted all the villages and taken up several CSR activities.

Visakhapatnam: The first batch of 80 women, who were imparted training at Divis Skill Development Centre (DSDC), is coming out soon. The DSDC is the first of its kind institution in the private sector sponsored by the Divis Laboratories Limited (DLL). There are over 10 villages in and around of DLL, and the company has adopted all the villages and taken up several CSR activities.

As part of the company’s women empowerment activities, the DLL constructed the DSDC and in association with the National Skill Development Centre and launched three courses, including general duty nursing, advanced electronic tailoring and hospitality/office management for the rural women.

Not only construction of the DSDC, the company has taken up maintenance of the institution and classes are being taken up in digital mode with practicals. After the training, the DSDC and NSDC jointly issue certificate and also ensure job to the trainees. If the trainees are not interested in jobs, assistance would be given to them to turn into entrepreneurs.

“Girls undergoing three months training in nursing course. The company sponsored all the necessary equipment to train them”, says G Durga Bhavani, nursing trainer. All the trainee Aadhaar numbers have been uploaded in the state and central skill development corporation websites to ensure job to them. Not only theory classes, but the centre is also providing corporate standard training.

“The DLL management set up the centre to provide financial assistance to the women and their families. In each course 30 women were given admission and the first batch of the courses would be completed soon. Certificates and offer letters would be given to them at a meeting soon”, I Nagaraju, Officer, CSR, DLL.
