Eluru: There were anxious moments among police officials for about half-an-hour following a bomb threat on former minister Pydikondala Manikyala Rao’s car in Tadepalligudem on Friday.

Some unidentified persons rang up to certain TV Channel reporters stating that a bomb was planted in the car of former minister Manikyala Rao. The TV channel persons, in turn, informed the matter to the police who reached to the residence of Manikyala Rao along with bomb disposal squad and checked the premises.

The BJP activists who were taking out a rally in protest against the attack by TDP followers on BJP president Amit Shah, also reached the residence. Town CI MRLSLS Murthy, with his team and bomb disposal squad, reached the spot and thoroughly checked the former minister’s car and also other cars parked nearby.

After an hour search, the bomb squad declared that there was no bomb. With this, the BJP leaders heaved a sigh of relief. The police are trying to trace the unknown caller who made a call to the TV Channel reporters of Tadepalligudem.
