Link Fasal Bima Yojana to groundnut crop, demands CPM
District CPM secretary Rambhoopal has demanded the officials concerned to link Fasal Bima Yojana (FBY) with groundnut crop in the district. In a press release here on Friday, he lashed out at the State government for bringing the groundnut crop in the north Andhra districts under the FBY but leaving out Anantapur district, where the principal crop was groundnut.
Anantapur: District CPM secretary Rambhoopal has demanded the officials concerned to link Fasal Bima Yojana (FBY) with groundnut crop in the district. In a press release here on Friday, he lashed out at the State government for bringing the groundnut crop in the north Andhra districts under the FBY but leaving out Anantapur district, where the principal crop was groundnut.
Coming down on the State and Central governments for depriving the benefits of FBY, the scheme takes care of insurance coverage of any adverse climatic conditions like cyclones and floods.
While all the other crops were covered under the scheme, only the groundnut crop was not covered, he lamented. Rambhoopal demanded the immediate intervention of the State and Central governments to put an end to the discrimination against farmers growing groundnuts in Rayalaseema.
