Man stoned to death

Kurnool: A man was stoned to death by a mob comprising of hundred persons suspecting him as a member of the Pardhi gang at Sukravarampeta in Adoni on late Thursday night. According to the police, the residents of Sukravarampeta came across a person loitering in their colony.

As the person was peculiar in his appearance, the residents suspected him as a member of the Pardhi gang. With the suspicion, the residents approached him and asked about his identity. Of not finding response from the man to their questions, residents attacked him.

In the attack, the stranger suffered head injuries and began to bleed profusely. On receiving information, the I-Town police rushed to the spot and tried to control the residents. But, the irate residents pushed the cops aside and continued their attack on helpless man.

He died on the spot. Coming to know about the incident, District Superintendent of Police (SP) Gopinath Jetty came to Adoni and inspected the scene of offense. He expressed anger over residents for taking law into the hands and committing a crime. The SP said that residents, who have attacked the man, will have to face the action. He made it clear that members of the Pardhi gang are moving in Kurnool district.

Gopinath Jetty made an appeal to people not to believe in rumours. He also advised the people to inform the police instead of attacking the person on suspicion. The police are yet to confirm the identity of the deceased.
