Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh BJP leaders sought the intervention of the Governor E S L Narasimhan to direct the government to initiate action against the recent attacks on the party national president Amit Shah in Tirupati.

Former DGP and Chairman of BJP Political Feedback Committee V Dinesh Reddy, State Executive Committee member U Venkata Ramana and KisanMorcha National Executive member Ch Satyakrishnam Raju met the Governor here on Saturday and submitted a memorandum seeking his intervention.

Terming the law and order in AP is quite alarming, the BJP leaders said that even the leaders of 'Z' category lack security. The recent attack on the BJP national president Amit Shah at Tirupathi is a classic example to showcase the sorry state of affairs in the State, they said.

The BJP leaders said that Chinarajappa had played down the attack as a mere expression of anger and no case was registered against those who resorted to the attack. However, the same State government registered cases against the activists of the BJP, who had burnt the effigy of the TDP MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna for the latter's remarks on Prime Narendra Modi," they pointed out.

But the State government had not registered any case against Balakrishna for resorting to defaming the Prime Minister of the country, they added. It was against this backdrop that the BJP leaders requested the Governor to take note of the prevailing law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh. They urged the Governor to initiate appropriate action against those responsible for the attack.
