Visakhapatnam: The Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system not only degraded the quality of education but also resulted in malpractice. On the other hand, the project works, which were being done by the students as a part of the system, are being exposed to porn websites.

Citing all these issues, the Andhra Pradesh Private Schools Association (APPSA) urged the AP Commissioner & Director of School Education to do away with CCE system and conduct exam for full marks as it was done earlier.

The department has released draft calendar for the academic year 2018-19 and sought public opinion before finalising it. The marks in the CCE pattern is 20 per cent internal and 80 per cent external. For 20 per cent internal assessment, there is every possibility of malpractice in schools for fear of losing the credibility of the respective schools.

Chairman KSN Murthy Andhra Pradesh Private Schools Association (APPSA) stated in his letter, which was submitted to the school commissioner on Friday, that in some rural areas, children go to the internet cafes on the pretext of downloading images and data. There is the possibility of them to watch unnecessary sites not relevant to the project.

Hence, some of the parents are reluctant to send their children to the net centres. The Summative Assessment (SA) exams were conducted internally by the management and carries 20 per cent marks.

The school management need to go to the nearby centres to collect the question papers everyday one hour before the exam. For all the examinations, the procedure is the same. When there is shortage of question papers, extra copies are taken at the Xerox centres.

“Gita Bikkal Committee pointed out the defects in the CCE pattern and advised to cancel it which is full of loopholes and the CCE pattern is opposed and cancelled by 17 states in the country. It was a failure.

There are so many columns in the answer sheet to be filled in with marks and grades to be given for each and every column which is very difficult for the teachers. The teachers drifted away from the teaching as they are engaged in evaluation works,” he lamented.
