Gudur cops cracked the mystery behind the murder of a paddy broker and took four persons into the custody. The accused were identified as V Munikrishnaiah, P Subrahmanyam, I Vijay Kumar and D Venugopal. According to Gudur DSP VS Rambabu, Munikrishnaiah, Vijay Kumar and Venugopal were doing paddy business for the last 3 years.

According to Gudur DSP VS Rambabu, Munikrishnaiah, Vijay Kumar and Venugopal were doing paddy business for the last 3 years.

“The trio suffered huge losses in the business since they addicted to bad habits. They hatched a plan to kill a paddy broker after receiving Rs 1 crore worth paddy from him,” said the DSP. They received Rs 1 crore worth paddy from broker Purini Ravi and the accused sold out 26 trucks of paddy at Red Hills, Kanchipuram and also in Kangayam in Tamil Nadu which they acquired from Ravi on loan basis. Munikrishnaiah, Vijay Kumar and Venugopal had paid part amount to the farmers and the rest they had spent the money for their enjoyment.

“Purini Ravi mounted pressure on the accused to clear the dues of the paddy and the trio plotted to kill Ravi. They had made a deal with Ravi’s driver Subrahmanyam for Rs 5 lakh,” the DSP said. On April 19, Subrahmanyam had given a cool drink mixed with poison while he stayed in a lodge in Gudur town. Ravi had consumed the cool drink and died.

The police registered the death as suspicious and started investigation. The accused had taken away cool drink bottle, poison bottle and other suspected material from the lodge after death of Ravi, said the police officer. During the investigation, the police found four persons were guilty and nabbed them at Nelaballi village in Doravari Satram mandal on Friday. Gudur Rural Circle Inspector Pakkeswar Rao, Sub-Inspectors K Sekhar Babu, M Bobby and others were present.
