Plethora of civic problems are awaiting new MCT Commissioner V Vijay Rama Raju, IAS. In a reshuffle, the government had transferred previous MCT Commissioner Ch Hari Kiran as Collector of YSR Kadapa district.
Tirupati: Plethora of civic problems are awaiting new MCT Commissioner V Vijay Rama Raju, IAS. In a reshuffle, the government had transferred previous MCT Commissioner Ch Hari Kiran as Collector of YSR Kadapa district. In his place, Vijay Rama Raju was posted as commissioner for the pilgrim city. He took charge as MCT Commissioner on Saturday.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Vijay Rama Raju said that he will respond on the long pending issues after understanding them. “I have to study the city profile and various civic issues. Then, I will sort out the urgent ones as per priority,” he stated. Some of the issues which need the attention of the new civic chief are completing the construction of new command control centre by linking to advanced CCTV cameras in the city.
The command centre will be useful for cops to maintain law and order, regulate traffic, clearing the garbage and monitoring the drinking water supply. Tenders to be called for the laying of underground electricity cables for supply of domestic power. Free wi-fi facility at select places in city and laying new drinking water pipelines at an outlay of Rs 82 crore under the AMRUT scheme. Also, payment of pending salaries for 400 outsourcing employees of the civic body.
