Vijayawada: Collector B Lakshmikantham directed the education and medical & health departments to improve their performance at a coordination committee meeting organised at the sub-collector’s office here on Monday.

Speaking at the meeting, he recalled that in the recent collectors’ conference the progress index of the health department showed decline in performance and education and medical & health were not as per expectation. He told the officials of respective departments to improve their performance by the next collectors’ conference.

He said there was good progress in distributing loans to farmers and fishermen and to purchase livestock. He said the presentation given to the Chief Minister on mother and child welfare department on improving hemoglobin percentage among girls and pregnant women had a got a good response.

He added the joint collector and DROs were showing improved performance by generating revenue from the mines and geology departments. He said gold medals will be given to best performing departments including agriculture, livestock, fisheries, ED of SC Corporation, ZP CEO, DUAMA PD, DRDA PD, Tidco and Mines department on May 18.

He said the schools will be reopen on June 12 and for recreation and science tour the students will be taken to Dolphin house at Nagayalanka and other places in the district. Joint collector Vijaya Krishnan, JC-2 Babu Rao, DRO BR Ambedkar, RDOs Chakrapani, Udaya Bhaskar, Ch Rangaiah and others were present.
