Rajamahendravaram: Chief conservator of forests (CCF) J S N Murthy directed the officials not to compromise on the quality of various ongoing works and any lapses in this regard would be viewed seriously. Divisional forest officers, section officers and range officers should work together in this regard, he said.

Reviewing the progress of works with divisional forest officers and range officers of Krishna, East Godavari and West Godavari districts here on Tuesday, Murthy said to lack of technical knowledge and negligent attitude would tarnish the image of the department.

Noting that many lapses were identified when a divisional forest officer inspected the works in a division, he said it would be better if the lapses were identified by department officers instead of vigilance department.

The divisional forest officers who submitted reports relating to works of other divisions should hold responsibility for that, he said. The CCF said it was the primary duty of any forest officer to protect the forest properties along with wildlife and added that every range officer should concentrate on nurseries in their boundaries.

“At present the maintenance of nurseries went to dogs. Divisional forest officers of wildlife wing should arrange necessary facilities to view birds in their areas immediately. The facilities should be arranged all along Kolleru Lake to view the birds,” he directed the officials.

Murthy underlined the need to involve Vana Samrakshana Samitis in collecting seeds in forest area and made it clear that the job should not be neglected. Divisional forest officers, range officers of Krishna, East and West Godavari districts attended the review meeting.
