Tirupati: Social activist P Naveen Kumar Reddy issued a legal notice, on Monday, to TTD to restrain it from sanctioning Rs 10 crore for taking temple construction works at T Gundamala village in Madakasira mandal in Anantapur district.

Following reliable information that TDP MLC and party state organising secretary Gundamala Thippeswamy represented to Chief Minister seeking TTD sanction Rs 10 crore for construction of group of temples and Kalyana Mandapam in his native village Gundamala, Naveen Kumar issued the legal notice to stop TTD sanctioning its funds.

Thippeswamy’s representation given to the Chief Minister on November 9 last year was forwarded by Special Chief Secretary to TTD Executive Officer next day i.e. November 10 to examine it.

Notice issued to TTD EO, Chief Engineer and TTD chairman, Naveen Kumar contended that the Chairman and EO are contemplating to release the funds after approval in TTD Trust Board meeting slated on May 16.

It is the responsibility of EO to reject such proposals of political interests or else it will set a bad precedent and invite several such requests from MLAs of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and elsewhere demanding funds from the TTD in the name religion for promoting and propagating their political interests, the notice said, adding that if the TTD Trust Board starts sanctioning funds of Lord Venkateswara due to political pressure and interests it will ultimately lead to depletion of TTD funds to the rock bottom level leaving nothing to carry the present religious activities and developing amenities for pilgrims.

Naveen warned that as a devotee he would be constrained to take legal action if EO and Chairman proceed further in sanctioning funds and financial assistance in any form sought by MLC Thippeswamy and MLA K Eranna for construction of temples in Gundamala as it is violation of Sec 111 of AP Endowment Act making both of them officially and personally liable for abuse of power and misuse of funds of Lord Venkateswara, at their risk and expense.
