Srikakulam: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu exuded confidence that people would vote for TDP if the village-level employees and officers implement all the schemes without corruption. He assured to reduce power tariff in future if conditions are favourable.

He assured all-round development of the district while touring Saravakota mandal in Srikakulam district on Tuesday. He laid the foundation stone for lift irrigation works at Bonthu village in Saravakota mandal, which will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 180.22 crore to provide water to 11,700 acres in 67 villages and drinking water to 83 villages by diverting water from Mahendratanaya river.

He inspected silt removing works at Rangasagaram and allocated Rs 10 crore for development of the tank as a mini-reservoir. Later, he interacted with the people of Burujuwada village in the same mandal, the adopted village of Srikakulam MP K Rammohan Naidu.

He enquired about implementation of welfare schemes at the village. Later, he organised the Rachchabanda programme at Chinnakittalapadu village. On the occasion, he interacted with beneficiaries of Chandranna Bima scheme.

He enquired about implementation of schemes like Sadikara Mitra and Bhima Mitra with the local VRO and panchayat secretary. He received applications from people on various schemes and issues, including Vamsadhara project compensation.

In the evening, he addressed a public meeting at Rangasagaram tank. Speaking on the occasion, he said that out of total 14 lakh acres of land, nine lakh acres are suitable for cultivation in the district and assured to provide water for it. He expressed happiness for laying the foundation stone for Bonthu lift irrigation scheme on the eve of 215th birth anniversary of Sir Arthur Cotton.

Ministers Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Pithani Satyannarayana, K Kala Venkata Rao, K Atchannaidu, MP K Rammohan Naidu, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Ch Dhanalaxmi, MLAs G Laxmidevi, B Ramana Murthy, B Asok were present. District Collector K Dhanunjaya Reddy explained about all schemes in the villages and mandal.

Police provided tight security for the Chief Minister’s tour as the villages are situated in remote area. APSRTC diverted buses from Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts to gather people for the public meeting as a result passengers of RTC faced trouble to reach their destinations.
