Vijayawada: Minister for human resource development Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Wednesday released the results of Andhra Pradesh Engineering Common Entrance Test-2018 (APEcet).

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Anantapur conducted the test on May 3. Total number of candidates appeared the test was 33,637 and candidates qualified were 33,088 with 98.37 pass percentage, which is 4 per cent more than 2017.

Last year, 93.85 per cent candidates were qualified. Candidates who have completed the polytechnic courses have appeared the APEcet-2018 to pursue the engineering course. The JNTU has declared the results in a record time of only 13 days.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinivasa Rao said 28,629 men and 6268 women and 37 transgenders got registered for the exam and 25,113 men, 5731 women and 33 transgenders were qualified in the examination. He said compared with last year, 2,211 more candidates were qualified this year in the APEcet.

He informed the media that 21 university colleges and 421 private colleges are offering engineering seats to the students. He stated that Hyderabad topped the qualifying test with 962 candidates getting qualified as against the 1,000 candidates registered.

Prakasam district got the lowest percentage with 97.02. A total of 1,891 candidates qualified as against the 2,100 candidates registered for the test from Prakasam district.
