As many as 12 bodies were identified out of the total 22  passengers who are believed to have drowned in the motor boat capsise incident in River Godavari between Mantur and Vadapalli on  Tuesday evening. At the time of the mishap, 44 passengers are travelling in the motor launch and 22 died and 22 could swam to the river bank.   

Rajamahendravaram: As many as 12 bodies were identified out of the total 22 passengers who are believed to have drowned in the motor boat capsise incident in River Godavari between Mantur and Vadapalli on Tuesday evening. At the time of the mishap, 44 passengers are travelling in the motor launch and 22 died and 22 could swam to the river bank.

The deceased were identified as K Bullemma, P Nagaratnam, K Chantabbayi, M Mangatayaru, T Subramanyam, of K Gondur village, K Siva Kumari, K Ram K Lakshman of Talluru village, K Nara Durgamma Kochhuru village, K Manoj Tadimada village, Y Sitaram and I Savitri of Kondamodalu village. The officials are trying to identify the remaining bodies.

Village revenue officers were sent to Kondamodalu, K Gonduru, Kochhara, Talluru, etc., to enquire whether any of the residents travelled on the boat. Some passengers went to Indukuripeta for giving thumb impressions for Aadhaar cards, some students to get TCs from schools and some others went to tashildar office and boarded the launch at Devipatnam in the evening.

Some people boarded the launch at Singanapalli village to go to Polavaram to purchase commodities in the weekly market held on every Tuesday and some others to visit hospital. All the passengers boarded the boat on Tuesday morning from Kondamodalu, Kachur, K Gondu, Tallur village togo Devipatnam, Indukuripeta and Polavaram.
