Tirupati: The ardour in aerodynamics made a 24-year-old mechanical engineer from Tirupati to make flying objects like aeroplanes, helicopters and even drones.

His quest for knowledge made him to learn many aspects of aeroplanes, helicopters and the procedure to make them fly with intense observation. Being a mechanical engineer, he developed operating software (OS) with two names which were being used by mobile phone manufacturers.

K Venkat Kamesh studied his B.Tech in mechanical engineering from Annamacharya Institute of Technology and Sciences (AITS) where he received motivation to go further in his area of interest.

“Whenever I shared my thoughts with my friends in the beginning days, they used to heckle me. While studying B.Tech I used to go to Chennai during the weekends to learn various aspects of aerodynamics from a friend’s relative. It helped me a lot,” Kamesh told The Hans India.

After securing all the required objects he made a miniature aeroplane and was able to fly it. With this, he gained interest in robotics and through ‘mechotronix’ (A combination of electronics and mechanical engineering), he went deep into the subject. Subsequently, he even posted tutorials online.

Kamesh has worked in ethical hacking on Android platform which was recognised by Sony company and gifted him a mobile. He did not stop with that and went on developing operating software for mobile phones with the names ‘Kryptonian’ and ‘Rock Z1’.

His OS was being used in 12 models of mobiles made by Sony (7), LG (4) and Samsung (1). He trained the students of AITS to make one robot through artificial intelligence which has been displayed at their library. The team now works on the next version of the robot.

“I also worked on Drone open source where I have added ‘N’ number of options to make it more stable with altitude hold and GPS systems,” he explained.

Through his start-up ‘Sri Vignan Technologies’, he has been supplying GPS tracking systems to school buses, commercial establishments and others besides training upcoming youth.

He was very much interested in both robotics and drone technology but in the absence of proper guidance he learnt everything on his own. His plan is to share his knowledge with everyone and towards that moto he has been running classes for children this summer.

The young children were very happy to learn making flying objects. Sasi Karthikeya of sixth class said that he was learning the making of aeroplane and it was quite interesting. But, Kamesh trained them in basic technology only. “If they learn advanced technology, I have every fear that they may misuse it sometime or the other,” he opined.

He even goes to colleges and imparts training to the students there. Recently, he conducted training classes for the trainees at Police Training College (PTC) near Kalyani Dam on ‘Quad copter’ which can be used for surveillance.

At Regional Science Centre, he takes classes on every Sunday on various aspects of aeronautics, science and robotics with practical orientation. So far, he has completed nearly 250 engineering projects.

“In future I want to make 20 products and release them in market of which the majority will be educational kits,” Kamesh said.
