Vijayawada: Historian Dr Movva Srinivasa Reddy urged the state government to establish village museums to showcase rural lifestyle, local history and culture for the benefit of the future generations.

Reddy was addressing the gathering to mark the International Museum Day here on Friday at the Cultural Centre of Vijayawada and Amravati (CCVA).

He reiterated that every village is a museum as it has many social groups practising age-old traditions in all walks of life. He said that the villages reflect Mini- India. CCVA CEO Dr Sivanagi Reddy spoke on ‘Hyper connected museums’, digitisation of the collections adding multimedia elements to the exhibition.

Dr Gumma Sambasiva Rao, Vice-Principal of Andhra Loyola College, Subhakar Medasani, Secretary, Amaravati Buddha Vihara, Sandeep Mandava, CEO, Malaxmi Property Ventures Private Limited, Chimpiraiah of Malaxmi Group and students from various colleges were present.
