Director General of Police M Malakondaiah on Friday constituted two Special Investigation Teams (SIT) to conduct a time-bound investigation of cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Each SIT will have two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) including one woman DSP.

Vijayawada: Director General of Police M Malakondaiah on Friday constituted two Special Investigation Teams (SIT) to conduct a time-bound investigation of cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Each SIT will have two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) including one woman DSP.

The DGP has appointed P Sowmya Latha, SDPO, Bobbili, Vizianagaram district and K Krishna Prasanna, SDPO, Amalapuram, East Godavari for SIT-1. The team will cover Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam (U), Visakhapatnam (R), Rajahmahendravaram (U), West Godavari and Krishna districts along with Vijayawada city.

He appointed KGV Saritha, SDPO, Guntur West and M Venkatadri, DSP, Women PS Kurnool for SIT-2. They will cover Guntur (U), Guntur (R), Prakasam, SPS Nellore, Kurnool, Kadapa, Anantapur, Tirupati and Chittoor districts.

He said both the SITs will work under the supervision of B Raja Kumari, SP, Rajam Urban Police District, under the overall supervision of Additional DGP, CID, AP for legal assistance.

He said the SITs will take up cases and investigate under the POCSO Act in their allotted districts and submit weekly reports to the Additional DGP, CID on the progress of investigations.
